Now for an artsy introduction to portraiture:

A portrait is not a simple transaction between your face and my camera; no amount of fancy gear, flashy wardrobe, technical proficiency, well-practiced selfie smiles & angles, or skin-smoothing filters will truly elucidate a person’s personality. Let’s be honest, most of that shit is deception, not depiction.

Instead, a portrait is a glimpse into your soul. And to capture that, I need you to remove your armor—you know what I mean—and be your wholehearted self. Together, we’ll teach your face muscles to express your emotional substance to the camera.

So, my photo sessions can be rather involved. Expect that I’ll ask questions about what defines you, how you perceive yourself, and how you like the world to see you. Yours is an interesting story, let’s give the world a teaser of it.
